Make sure to explore Tierra del Fuego and the famous southern village known as Ushuaia.
22. Outback, Australia
The Outback, located in the heart of Australia, is a unique place with vast stretches of red sand and stunning landscapes. There are no major cities for hundreds and thousands of kilometers in either direction. With a circumference of 5.8 miles, Uluru Rock, formerly known as Ayers Rock, is considered the largest monolith in the world. The best way to get here is to fly to either Alice Springs or Ayers Rock Airport.
23. Swiss Alps, Switzerland
The Swiss Alps, a popular ski destination, is known for its picturesque towns like Zermatt, which is considered the base camp for the Matterhorn, one of the most famous mountains in the world. The best way to experience the Swiss Alps is by train, where you can take the Golden Pass and explore the towns and villages in between. Some special places to visit include Interlaken, Lauterbrunnen, Grindelwald, and more. The good news is that you can visit the Swiss Alps during winter, spring, autumn, and summer and enjoy its beauty all year round.
24. Ancient Egypt, Egypt
Ancient Egypt, located along the Nile River, is home to iconic sites such as the Sphinx and the Pyramids of Giza. You can also find the Great Pyramid and tombs located near Cairo. If you head south towards Aswan, you will come across famous places like Luxor, Abu Simbel, and the Valley of the Kings. You can also take a cruise along the Nile and explore all the ancient sites from the luxury of a tour boat. I recommend spending at least seven days to explore all of ancient Egypt.
25. Iceland
Iceland is an island nation located in the North Atlantic Ocean. It offers stunning landscapes with countless streams and rivers flowing everywhere. You can find many different waterfalls and an active lava flow known as the Land of Fire and Ice. Iceland is also famous for its unique wildlife, including majestic horses, sheep herds, and the midnight sun. If you stay long enough, you may even catch a glimpse of the Northern Lights, also known as the Aurora Borealis. Keep in mind that the Northern Lights can also be seen in Norway, Alaska, and other parts of Scandinavia. So, if you’re looking for the Northern Lights, you can explore the northern hemisphere for the best chance of seeing them during the winter months.
26. Great Barrier Reef, Australia
The Great Barrier Reef, located off the coast of Queensland, Australia, is made up of over 900 islands, making it the largest coral reef system in the world, spanning 1,430 miles. It is home to approximately 1,500 species of fish and 411 different species of hard corals. Visitors can explore this natural marine biodiversity wonderland while minimizing their impact on the environment.
27. Santorini, Greece
Santorini, also known as Thera, is a volcanic caldera located in the Cyclades Islands in Greece. It is considered one of the most beautiful honeymoon destinations in the world. Some places to explore on the island are Oia and Akrotiri. Four days in Santorini seem to be perfect to fully experience the beauty it has to offer.
28. Paris, France
Paris, the romantic city of lights, is home to iconic landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame Cathedral, Sacré-Cœur, and the Palace of Versailles. The Dead Sea, bordering Jordan and Israel, allows you to experience the unique sensation of floating due to the high salt content. There are no fish or animals living in or around the sea. It is essentially a saltwater pond. You can also enjoy a mud bath or salt bath, which is interesting and leaves your skin feeling rejuvenated. The Dead Sea is located at the lowest point on Earth.
30. Kauai, Hawaii
Kauai, known as the Garden Isle, is located on the western end of the Hawaiian Islands. It offers lush rainforests, dramatic cliffs, and stunning views. Some places to explore are Waimea Canyon, Hanalei Bay, and the Napali Coast. Kauai provides some of the most spectacular landscapes you will find anywhere in the world. If you have the chance, take a helicopter or boat tour to explore the Napali Coast sea caves.
